Items

To create items, simply click on the Items button in the Tools section at the bottom right corner of your screen.  The right hand panel will display the Item Library

Click the Create button to make a new Unknown Item.  Then double-click any field to edit it.

Graphics

You can use item graphics from your d20pro library, import them from a folder on your computer, or even paste them from the clipboard.  The process is almost identical to that for Creature Portraits - only the folders are different.

To set an image for a creature, click on the creature portrait in the top-left corner of your General Tab (creature character sheet).  You will get an Image Chooser window similar to that displayed for the Tile Painter and Image Scaler tools.  Browse among the folders displayed to select a creature portrait.

Recommendations:  Creature portraits should be square in dimensions for best appearance.  Also, try to keep them below 300 or 400 pixels square.

Using Your Own Files

The Image Chooser looks inside your d20pro/res/CTR folder for images.  If you wish to use your own custom images, you can copy them into this folder (and even create subfolders) and d20pro will recognize them the next time you start the program.

Importing Images

In addition to copying your own images over, you can also import them directly into d20pro.  Click on the Import Image button in the Image Chooser and a new Import CTR Image window will appear.

This window has buttons at the top that allow you to import and crop your image.  Click File or Clipboard to choose your image source.  When you import your image, you will see it in the section below the buttons.

Now click Config Crop and set the initial crop size to about 100 or 200.  A red box will appear, which you can move around and resize using the small icons to the bottom right of it.  When you are happy with the crop specifications, click on Apply Crop.

Finally, put the creature portrait into a module to have d20pro save it into a folder.  Otherwise it will save it into the root of your CTR folder.

Import Image

Clicking on the Import Image button brings up a new window. It has some basic instructions on how to crop the image if necessary but we will review here.

Import your image from the file or clipboard and you will then see it in the window.  Item and Portrait images should be square (or nearly), as d20pro will display them as square - and you will get skewing if they are not.

If they are not square or if you want to trim them so that you use only part of the image, you can use the crop buttons at the top.  Click on Configure Crop to set a basic size in pixels.  If you are unsure of the size, you can try a safe number like 300 and see how big the crop box is. Then you can click Configure again and adjust, or hold down the CTRL key and drag the corner icon to resize.

Drag the square around to get it into position, then decide if you want a border or a background.  Backgrounds are used only with transparent images.  Assigning a module will place the image in a subfolder within your d20pro\judge\campaign\____\res\ITEM folder.

Click the green checkbox to accept.  Your new image should now be available for use in your library.
